Milwaukee police say a hug at a McDonald's restaurant led to a $100,000 theft.
Detective Robert St. Onge says a woman in her 20s approached and hugged a 75-year-old woman at the restaurant. The younger woman claimed the two had met at the restaurant previously.
St. Onge says the two chatted and the older woman mentioned her mother's recent death. The younger woman consoled her and asked for her address to bring her flowers.
St. Onge says the older woman later began to feel uneasy, so she parked down the street from her house when she went home. She saw two people leaving her backyard.
Inside, the woman found her home ransacked and $100,000 that her mother had kept in a metal box was missing.
