Hutchinson Technology says 100 people will be laid off in Eau Claire.
Director of Corporate Communications Connie Pautz says the layoffs began Monday.
She says that's 7.5% of the company's employees in Eau Claire.
About 1,200 people still work at the plant.
Hutchinson first announced the cutbacks in December, but never said how many people would lose their jobs.
Pautz says the company is cutting about 1,380 jobs nationwide, which is about 30% of its workforce.
