If you, as a parent. feel it is too cold to send your child to school, then don't send them. You should know what is best for your own child, and have enough common sense to do the best for them in the wintertime in Wisconsin.
I thought maybe Jim was being sarcastic...but I'm not sure. If parents would take care of their children, cold wouldn't matter. But between working parents and unfit parents, it just seems that the schools have to step in to be the 'parents.'(That's scary!!!) It's cold!! Put a coat, hat, and gloves on and buck it up. No wonder no one knows how to work these days; let's take a day off whenever it's too cold, hot, wet, cloudy or whatever the current complaint is. Let's build some work-ethic into these kids and let them know they can't get out of work because they don't feel like doing it. Maybe the adults in these communities could model this???
I agree with closing the schools when its cold. Lets close them in December right before Christmas, and reopen them in the middle of March when the weather warms up. They can go to school in the summer when there isn't any cold to worry about. This will also lessen the outbreak of flu. After all, we arn't an agricultural society anymore.
I feel that the temp should be a major part in deciding when to close school. It is very cold for those children waiting outside for the bus or for walking to school even a short block or so. It can become dangerous especially in smaller children who dont understand and realize that they are getting colder. Thank you
this is rediculas we have really small children going to headstart and with weather and wind chills even matching 10-20 below the schools should close something needs to be done about this!!!! it is way to cold to be sending children to school!!!! a concerned parent
my son is in love with this weather. he is not the only one.
