The area in question is hills and valleys. At some points, a person must accelerate to get momentum so as not to start to slide backwards going up a hill. As you are aware I am sure, this year salt and sand on the roads is used much less then previous years. When roads are in such poor condition, when visibility is poor and it puts the Amish in buggies at risk of harm, the Amish need to keep their buggies home. They also need to take a road test as other drivers of vehicles do as they need to learn the rules of the road. They get by with to much based on their beliefs and their religion. I have to pay through licence plate dues and I have to pay auto insurance for liability. They are putting the English at risk as well as themselves and their families. They pay absolutely nothing for the use of the highways yet they cause much damage with their special shoes they place on those horses so they don't slip on the ice and snow. We can't have studded snow tires. Those shoes are bad!!!

THE FREEKING HORSE? WHAT ABOUT THE TWO WOMEN WHO WERE TAKEN TO THE HOSPITAL? THAT'S WHATS WRONG HERE, MORE CONCERN OVER ANIMAL THEN HUMAN LIVES. OMG

While it is sad the horse didn't survive, even if it was okay, it probably would never be able to drive on roads again. It would be scared to death.

I also read the story this morning, and when I first read it, it didn't have the sentence stating that the horse was euthanized. They updated the story at 7:06 am, as shown above.

The horse had to be euthanized at the scene. This is the last sentence of the article. I love animals myself however I feel the human lives should be accounted for first as this article did. I feel the article was respectful to both human and animal life.

Read the article again, The last sentence gives your answer.

In the auto-buggy accident it said the horse was thrown onto the car hood. While I am glad no person was severely hurt, why did they neglect to say whether the horse survived? Is the life of a horse not worth mentioning in the news? I bet someone loved that horse. I happen to love horses myself and this really upsets me. I can only hope that the horse survived with only minor injuries, but I fear the worse.... My prayers go out for the horse.
