Another community is asking its water customers to run their water constantly to keep pipes from freezing.
Mondovi City Administrator Dan Lauersdorf says anyone within the city limits should run a pencil-sized stream of water constantly out of one faucet. He says he'll submit a notice for customers to stop in the newspaper. Lauersdorf says people living in Mondovi will be reimbursed on their water bill. He says the frost is six feet deep in Mondovi right now.
Dan Lauersdorf said, "What happens is in some of the streets, the water mains are sitting at six foot of depths. Because they are snow covered over them, and you keep driving over them, you push the frost down even further."
Lauersdorf says if the city has to run water constantly for the next month, it'll cost about $7 thousand.
