Firefighter Battles Fire at Own Home, Loses Everything
Colin and Sheri Allen both had tears running down their faces as they talked about hearing their own home called out over Colin's pager

I have to comment on the insurance and donation comment. Times are tough and you have to pay what you can. Who can predict a home fire? The Allens have not "asked" for donations. Donations have been flooding in freely and it sounds like you need to set aside your selfishness and realize that they have nothing but the clothes they were wearing that day. Open your heart if not your checkbook.

For Mitcham of EC these people did not ask for help. The community came to them, that is what friends and Christian people do for each other. He is also my little brother who would give you the shirt off his back to help others. I know because when my husband was very ill last year he was always there to help. Some people do things out of the goodness of their hearts and don't have to be asked and ask nothing in return. Small communities take care of their friends. Thank you to all those that help fight the fire and the support you have given Colin, Sheri, Chris and Machalia. With love and praise to the Lord.

I'm am so sorry for they're loss. But I have to wonder about the decision to let the homeowner's insurance lapse and then to ask for donations from those of us who continue to pay our premiums? I can't continue to pick up the slack for other people's poor decision making.

Sorry to hear about that, it's such a shame. But luckily no one was hurt, and you can replace posessions. There have been so many home fires this winter. It's scary. I wish you the best of luck in getting back to a normal life. I can't imagine how hard it must be.

I hope they were smart enough to purchase insurance.
