An area company is again tracking peregrine falcons.
This is the 14 season of Dairyland Power Cooperative's restoration program. The company has cameras installed into two nesting boxes to document the birds' activity. There used to be lots of the birds in the area. They were considered an endangered and threatened species in Wisconsin in 1975. It was because of the use of the pesticide DDT. Dairyland put up nesting boxes in Alma and Genoa years later.
In 1997, a pair of the falcons had chicks. Since then, nearly 70 chicks have been born at Dairyland nesting sites.
