Royal Credit Union is warning its customers about a scam taking place.
A spokesman for the credit union says some customers are getting phone calls asking for their Check Card number along with their PIN. RCU says they would never ask customers to do this, and that you should not respond to any type of request like this.
RCU says if people do get a call like this, they are encouraged to say they would like to verify that the call is legitimate. Then use the phone number in the local phone book, and not use a phone number they may give you.
If you have already given out this information, please contact RCU Member Service at 715-833-8111 or 1-800-341-9911. If calling after 7 pm or before 8:30 am, please call 1-800-236-2442 for ATM/Check Card questions or 1-800-853-0872 for credit card questions.
RCU says to remember that no financial would ever ask you to give your financial numbers over the phone. Never give any personal information when you receive an unsolicited call or email.
