A financially troubled hotel and indoor water park is set to be sold at public auction as a bank forecloses on the property.
An attorney for Associated Bank says a sheriff's sale of the Lodge at Cedar Creek near Wausau is set for June 2 to pay off a $6 million loan. John Van Lieshout says if nobody bids, the bank will be free to sell the property.
The bank moved to foreclose on the business in January in what bank workers described as a mutual agreement with the owners. The hotel and water park are valued at more than $16.5 million and remain open.
Rothschild Village President Neal Torney says he is aware of possible buyers.
The resort opened in June 2004 and has the largest indoor water park in northern Wisconsin.
