Gov. Jim Doyle will celebrate Earth Day with a children's celebration next month at the governor's mansion.
The April 25 celebration will include events focusing on agriculture, conservation and education.
The governor's office says it expects about 1,500 people to participate, including more than 450 children between the ages of 7 and 10.
The theme will be "Wisconsin ... Planted in the past, growing toward the future."
Children will participate in a nature walk, pop-can fishing, stamping and button making. They will learn how to grow a tree from a seedling and receive a seedling to take home.
Children and others must register for the event. That can be done online at: http://www.datcp.state.wi.us/registration/earthday.jsp.
