RICE LAKE, Wis. (AP) -- A rural Turtle Lake man who killed another man in a jealous rage is being released from prison and must visit his victim's grave annually.
50-year-old Mark Downing was convicted of second-degree intentional homicide in the August 1992 death of 36-year-old Bryan Schultz of Cumberland. Downing shot Schultz eight times in front of Cindy Poulter.
Poulter had a relationship with Schultz after moving out of the home she shared with Downing for 14 years.
Court records say Downing was sentenced to 25 years in prison and ordered to visit Schultz's grave with his parole officer each year after his release.
The Rice Lake Police Department says it has been told Downing will be released to a transitional living facility in Rice Lake. It did not say when.
