While crews were dealing with the deadly crash near Pittsville, another plane was in the air, helping with a grass fire near Mondovi.
The fire started shortly before four this afternoon about 2 miles north of Mondovi near Highway "H" in Pepin county.
Durand Fire Chief Pit Plumer says a company was supposed to be doing a controlled burn on some swamp grass but it got away and burned about 35 acres.
The chief says the fire spread across four or five people's properties, but no one was hurt.
Firefighters had to protect about three homes, but the fire didn't damage any buildings.
Plumer says burning right now is dangerous.
"People gotta watch it. It's drier than what they think and we've had a lot of wind lately. It just comes up and there's just no time", Plumer said.
Crews had the fire under control in a couple of hours.
Four departments helped put it out.
