CVTC Breaks Ground on Nanotechnology Center

Some tiny technology is laying a wide foundation for economic progress in western Wisconsin.

Governor Jim Doyle and other state officials joined the President of Chippewa Valley Technical College to break ground on the new NanoRite Nanotechnology Center Wednesday.

“If we're going to continue to be a strong manufacturing state we have to be ready to move into the modern high tech kind of manufacturing and the Chippewa Valley has really developed a great vision for nanotechnology,” says Doyle.

The state gave $500,000 toward the construction of the NanoRite center. Nanotechnology involves building electronic devices from single atoms and molecules.

The facility will open at CVTC next year.
