Deputies from the Chippewa County Sheriff's Department were on hand to help with the demonstration in Cadott and they brought the department's newest piece of equipment. It's a rollover-simulator that demonstrates the importance of wearing seat belts.
Deputy Chris Kowalczyk says not wearing your seat belt dramatically increases your chance of being hurt in a crash.
"The machine rolls and the direct result would be someone who's restrained-- hopefully the seat belt will prevent major injury and someone who's not restrained obviously will be flying inside the vehicle and/or ejected out of the vehicle," says Deputy Chris Kowalczyk with Chippewa Co. Sheriff's Department.
AAA grant covered the $9000 cost. Kowalczyk says they'll use it at a lot of community events this summer.
