A man dies when the motorcycle he was driving crashed into farm machinery pulled by a tractor.
The Pierce County Sheriffs Department says 55-year-old Richard Hanson of rural Ellsworth was driving a motorcycle westbound Saturday evening on US Highway 10 near County Highway O, just west of Ellsworth when he crested a small hill and was blinded by sunlight.
Deputies say Hanson crashed into farm machinery that was being pulled by a tractor, operated by 15-year-old Caleb Cobian of rural Hager City.
Hanson died from his injuries.
A second motorcycle crash happened Sunday morning around 11:30, just south of Sparta.
The Monroe County Sheriffs Department says 47-year-old Vicky Shelmidine was driving a motorcycle on Laquer Avenue near County Highway J when she hit some sand while traveling through a curve and went off the road and into a ditch.
Shelmidine was not wearing a helmet at the time of the crash, and was taken to a Sparta area hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
