Officers in Barron came upon the scene of a plane crash, but the pilot wasn't there.
The Barron County Sheriff says Cumberland Police found the crash just north of the Cumberland Airport. The sheriff says the plane was landing and the pilot couldn't stop in time and skidded through the end of the runway, across Highway T and came to a rest in a field. The pilot, 56-year-old Gerald Winch of Shell Lake left the scene and was treated for minor injuries.
The Federal Aviation Administration will be at the scene on Monday to investigate.
