A group of students showed their support for one of their friends today by trimming a few hairs.
About 15 fifth through eighth graders at Eau Claire Lutheran School shaved their heads to support Zach Hartsell, a 7th grader who was diagnosed with cancer about three weeks ago.
Zach just started losing his hair and the students wanted to make him feel comfortable when he returns to school Tuesday. About 10 boys shaved their heads, along with some coaches and staff, and the girls got their hair cut short.
Ari Beck says, "Zach has been my friend for a really long time so I wanted to be there for him."
Noah Vlcek, a 6th Grader added, "it's kind of just saying that we are all behind him supporting him and that we all care about him."
The students also decorated orange bandanas they'll wear to support Zach.
