An area school district superintendent says it appears a merge between two districts is likely.
Chris Nelson, the Weyerhaeuser superintendent, says last night the study committee talked about the money-saving aspects of a merge with Chetek.
He says it could save more than a million dollars by combining staff, closing an administration building and combining special education services.
Nelson says a state program would also give the districts about two million dollars in aid if they merge, and that's guaranteed for five years.
The committee will give the board a recommendation next month.
The school boards will vote on the proposal in July.
