People Invited to Bring Guns to Picnic
The gathering is a reminder to everyone that it's legal for people to openly carry a firearm.

Mr. Hoffman did an excellent job with this event. He raised the awareness level for open carry beyond expectations. I look forward to many more events such as this.

Wow, 200 people cared enough about this cause to show up. That is a very small segment of our state's population.

ill drive the 400 plus miles just to attend, and show my support, open carry by knowledgable and trained citizens would reduce crime rates and empower the people to actively take a stand in there rights.

Hubert dip**it really messed this up. He even got the trib to delete the debate. This is the dumbest thing ever. I mean "hey guys, lets open carry in the country where it's totally legal anyway",,, duh. If you want to make a political statement, you do so WITHIN CITY LIMITS, thats the little colored border you see on any map Huby. Jeez. This guy is giving activists a bad rap with this, and proving not one thing, other than providing the antis more "redneck" jokes. Hubert, watch your back ... you've stirred up a lot more than you can sweep up by Sunday. Your post on stormfront was seen by many and was a bad move by YOU. I pegged you so hard you had to whine to the trib, amazing. If you had spent as much time planning this as promoting it, it would have been a very positive thing. The only thing I'm positive of now is police presence and plENTY of leftovers.

I think the liberals know that our 2nd Amendment army is coming for them and their president. Who else is going to stop Al Queda?

I wonder who decides which posts make it into the blog. It seems like you can say whatever you want about liberals and minorities, but if you attack right wing nutbags, then WEAU won't have it. Jay, for instance is clearly an idiot. he encourages people to carry weapons with them. Law enforcement, of course, doesn't like this idea at all. But, WEAU and the Leader Telegram are not interested in offering the law enforcement folks behind the initial citation in this story for their views. That would ruin the anti-police witch hunt utilized to sell advertisements to locals. (I understand this view will not see the light of day. Perhaps later I will send in a comment that attacks teachers or police for fun as I know it will be posted immediately.) What a joke this alleged "press" is.

I wish we had open carry and concealed carry because I'd love to watch violent criminals take their act elsewhere...and they would in short order.

Oh the hippies are gonna hate this!!! Imagine Weedfest being in the same place on the same day?!?!? It'd be like '69 all over again. Times 3.

Finnally someone who has GUTS!!!! All the other extremists groups out there pushing for gay marriages, abortions, etc. have no qualms about gathering and no one complains! We need to educate the people in America that guns don't kill, PEOPLE DO!!!!!!!! A gun can't shoot without a PERSON shooting it!!!! I pray this will not bring out all the crazy people to prove their points! May it be a peaceful gathering where just "good people" gather and have fun together! May it be successful!

When I walk home at night I'd really feel better if I was armed. I can't wait until we get a concealed carry law or I guess I can carry it openly until then.

Public safety is only at risk when law abiding citizens are not allowed to balance those who would be criminals.

Next time I drive to Eau Clair, I'll be sure to visit Onalaska. I hope that Wisconsin citizens vote for "shall" issue" weapons law. "Reasonable" restrictions and issuing permits leave a bad taste = it is too close to becoming "privilege" vs a "right" under 2nd amendment. Hope those at the park have bright warm sunny day.

Ken, from Gilman has missed the point. Article 1, Section 25 "The people have the right to keep and bear arms for security, defense, hunting, recreation, and any other lawful purpose." Ken's post is nothing more than an uniformed rant.

great news for 2nd Amendment rights. more people should get involved and join NRA today. NRA is the only voice between a gun owner and Capital Hill. Join today!!!!

It's about time people stand up to the liberals and show that you are not afraid to be who you are!
