The reason that Wisconsin has the most cases of H1N1, is that other states are only testing those that are hospitalized. There are many more in the general public that get this flu and never go to the doctor, because in most, it is just a mild flu. Why is it different for us than for those that were first infected, is for the scientists to figure out. I think we have already been expose to this, but because people haven't gotten tested in the past, no one knew that the swine flu was among us. Haven't you wondered if on years when the flu vaccine was suppose to be the correct match for the different types of flu that year, why people still got the flu? Could it have been a swine flu or another type of flu that they don't think we have been exposed to yet? I just wonder.

on another note to your commenters...do a google on Hong Kong SARs and you will see an eye opener about how they took it lightly and it ended up shutting their city down...H1N1 is still an unknown and is mutating 4 times faster than swine flu. It is very likely to come back in the fall/winter much more lethal. Don't panic but let's be prepared.

NYC would be leading by a landslide if they were reporting all of their cases. They are only reporting hospitalized cases which represent only 4% of the actual cases.

Why is it that Wi leads the nation in swine flu cases and Milwaukee in particular has so many cases concentrated in the Hispanic population of the south side and there are no school closings, no public outrage, no call for alarm? If the cases were centered in Elm Grove or River Hills would the media and public health system be more proactive? I live in insulated Brookfield, but I have learned first hand from teachers in MPS about the high number of elementary school children sent to school with flu symptoms. Is the pork lobby so strong?

Let's be done with this swine flu. Everyone is making it a bigger deal than it should be. Yes it's the flu, and it's past flu season. We got it. But we don't need to be informed everytime a new case comes about. Even the department of health stated they overreacted to this. Enough is enough already.

I was one of the commenters before who said Doyle was putting the cart before the horse when he established a state of emergency. Now Wisconsin is leading the country in H1N1 incidence. What did he know at that time that he wasn't sharing with the general population? Or are we just a state full of non-hands washing, non-cough covering slobs who like to vacation in Mexico?

Another reason to give that County to Illinois...
