The people who don’t want a new jail built in downtown Eau Claire are taking their message on the move.
Members of CAJE – or Citizens for Accountable Jail Expansion – have built a traveling billboard.
CAJE says the 4x8 display is meant to remind people the jail project isn’t a done deal.
Eau Claire’s Plan Commission and the City Council are scheduled to vote on the county’s re-zoning request in June.
As of Wednesday night, Dennis Begalke had the billboard in his yard on Skeels Avenue.
"We're trying to encourage the citizens of Eau Claire to call their City Council members to voice their opinion,” he said.
CAJE says it’s looking for more places to put the billboard.

County leaders say downtown is the most cost-effective place to renovate the jail.
