The DNR is investigating two ATV crashes in Jackson County where alcohol may be a factor. The DNR says a 21-year-old man died in a crash Friday night. Warden Bill Yearman says Roland D. Buchli died when he was crushed by an ATV. Yearman says it happened at the Bunkhouse Off Road Camp near Merrillan. Witnesses told the DNR that Buchli had been drinking and tried to drive up a steep hill, when the ATV flipped over on him.
The second crash happened Sunday night near Northfield. The DNR says a man left a bar where witnesses say he had been drinking. The DNR says the man was found unconcious in the road. His ATV was in a nearby field. He was airlifted to a hospital. His condition is unknown.
