A Jackson County woman is charged with lying about cancer and other diseases to get disability benefits.
The U.S. Attorney's office says 32-year old Lisa Marie Miller from Black River Falls is charged with two counts of making false statements to the Social Security Administration. Prosecutors say late last fall, she applied for disability benefits and claimed she had breast cancer, diabetes, kidney disease and post-traumatic-stress-disorder, knowing that wasn't true.
The U.S. Attorney's office says she also lied about only having 8 to 12 months to live. If convicted, Miller faces up to ten years in prison.
