A wild whooping crane will have to spend the rest of its life in a Tampa Zoo, after becoming dependent on humans for food.
The whooping crane, which is known as 710, was guided to Florida in 2007 by volunteers from Operation Migration-out of Necedah, whose pilots teach the birds to migrate.
The bird started to visit feeders when it spent the winter in Spring Hill, Florida this year. Residents were asked to put away their feeders until the flock left the area, but one resident wouldn't agree to the plan.
Operation Migration also reported today that after several failed attempts, a pair of whoopng cranes have finally hatched a chick in the wild.
