For Amy Siemback and her classmates, the frosty weather and stinging wind were reminders of those less fortunate, who may be left needy and cold this holiday season.
>
"We're collecting items to donate to the Bridge of Hope and Interfaith Food Pantry in Menomine," UW-Stout student Siemback said.
>
After studying the effects of domestic abuse all semester as part of their "Abuse in the Family" class, these students saw a community need they knew they had to address.
>
"We wanted to do a project that was more social, getting to the community, not just UW-tout students," she said.
>
She says they wanted to do something big, something to make an impact and touch the lives of those in need.
>
"It's to raise awareness on domestic abuse as well, and we're out here cause the holidays are a time for happiness not fighting," student Kyle Adams said.
>
So to spread that holiday joy, they began a project they call "Fill a Truck with Hope." They'll be collecting items and donations all day. Hoping that by the days end their truck will be filled to the brim.
>
"Non-perishable foods, blankets, women's professional clothing, bedding of all sizes," Siemback said.
>
And ready to roll out some holiday hope to those who need it most.
