Demand For Health Care Workers
A new report says Wisconsin hospitals have a demand for health care positions, such as pharmacists and physical therapists.

A new report from the Wisconsin Hospital Association says its members are struggling to fill a variety of positions, including hospital-based pharmacists.

The association's report says the demand is rising for pharmacists, while the number entering the profession is dropping.

Admissions at Wisconsin's only pharmacy school, U-W Madison, have remained flat for five years. Some hospitals spend as much as a year recruiting nationwide before filling pharmacy vacancies.

The hospital group says there's also demand for physical therapists, radiologic technologists, nurses and even doctors.

The report's author says the vacancies can cause delays or access to health care and medication.
