A slowdown in the housing market is forcing Andersen Windows and Doors to cut 40 jobs from its Menomonie location.

Andersen currently employs 400 people there. The company says it's working with the state to help those workers find new jobs.

Market analyst Bill Hilgedeck says the job cuts reflect a general downturn in the housing market but, says the Andersen layoffs should be seen as specific to the housing market. He says it's not a sign of a general recession.

An Andersen representative says re-hiring will depend on the housing market.
