We have had these beetles every year for the last five and in Jim Falls. Don't know what was news worthy here. Has Eau Claire county never had them?
Someone told me to plant marigolds around your garden especially by the potato and tomato plants and you wont have potato beetles or the black bugs in your tomatoes. I did this last year and it worked like a charm. I never had any beetles and hardly and tomato bugs. I was told the bugs don't like the smell of the marigolds. Try it and if it doesn't work for you at least your garden will be prettier.
