In an effort to keep more college students in Wisconsin after graduation, a State Commission met today to consider recommending free tuition for students who stay in the state after graduation.
The students would have to agree to live and work in Wisconsin for 10-years after earning a bachelor's degree.
>
The commission decided to include it in its report as a possible means of improving higher education in the state, but not everyone thinks it's a good idea.
>
Roger Axtell, Commission Co-Chair, says “if you start giving free tuition to say 20,000 students, who say I'll stay in Wisconsin if you pay my tuition, how much is that going to cost and where is that money going to come from and those are two big questions."

The UW-Extension Chancellor is next in line to review the plan. Under the proposal, if a graduate decides to leave Wisconsin early That person would receive a bill for their tuition.
