An Antigo woman is sentenced to 15 years in prison for driving drunk and causing a head-on crash that took the life of a teenager.

Fifty-nine-year-old Katherine Arrowood was sentenced in Marathon County Circuit Court Tuesday in front of more than 75 family members and friends of the victim, 18-year-old Nels Jacobson.

Arrowood earlier pleaded no contest to homicide by intoxicated use of a vehicle and causing injury while driving under the influence.

Family members and friends of Jacobson cried and hugged each other after Judge Greg Grau issued the sentence.

Defense attorney Rand Krueger says others should share responsibility, including the bartender who encouraged Arrowood to continue drinking that night of June 10, 2005, along with patrons who helped Arrowood to her car.
