Nearly 170 students in Bloomer went for a world record today.

At exactly 11 o'clock this morning, students at St. Paul's Catholic School tried to break the Guinness Book record for reading the same book passage at the same time.

Nearly 500,000 readers around the world read a passage from “Charlotte's Web.”

The goal was to have all the students read the part at the same time.

"I actually stumbled upon it on the Internet searching for some lesson plans and some activities. My class is reading Charlotte's Web now and going to see the movie,” says 5th grade teacher Liz Cruse, who coordinated the reading.

The previous record was over 150,000 students in the United Kingdom who read the poem "Daffodils" at the same time.

Other countries involved in today's reading include Canada, Mexico, China, and Israel.
