The May unemployment rate is down in about two-thirds of Wisconsin’s counties, and several local counties have some of the lowest figures in the state.

Pepin County had the second-lowest unemployment rate in Wisconsin in May at 6.5 percent. Eau Claire, La Crosse, and Buffalo Counties were slightly higher at 6.6 percent. Eau Claire County's figure didn't change from April. Rusk County's employment remains the highest in the state, at 13.4 percent. Unemployment in the City of Eau Claire is up a tenth of a percent from April to 7.4 percent.

The state released the figures on Wednesday.
