Federal investigators will try to figure out why a small plane crashed at the Hayward Airport. It happened Monday night around 6:20. Sawyer County Sheriff's Deputies say Alan Wodack of Wray, Colorado, had taken off from Hayward. Deputies say he was trying to land about 10 minutes later when the single engine plane did a nose-dive in strong winds. It hit the ground near the south end of the runway and flipped onto its top.
Rescue crews examined Wodack after he got out of the plane. The 60-year-old didn't go to the hospital. Nobody else was hurt.
