Tobacco sellers in Whitehall can face fines as high as $500 for selling to minors.

The Trempealeau and La Crosse County Health Departments have teamed up with the Whitehall Police Department to reduce sales of tobacco to Whitehall minors.

They found one in five businesses checked would have sold to a minor.

Now all Whitehall businesses selling tobacco to minors could get two citations, one to the business owner and one to the clerk. They could face fines as high as $500 and have their licenses suspended up to 30 days.
