The most likely group to be hurt in a fireworks-related incident is reportedly boys between 10 and 14 years old.
Nationwide Children's Hospital in Ohio says almost 6,000 teenagers and children head to the emergency room every year because of fireworks injuries. Almost 1/3 of those injuries were related to what many parents consider safer fireworks like sparklers and fountains.
Even if parents light the fireworks, researchers say ¼ of fireworks injuries among children happen to those who are bystanders and not directly handling the fireworks.
