Cash for Clunkers
There's a new government program starting later this month that aims to get gas guzzlers off the road, and get you into a more fuel efficient car.

I too voted for Obama and I also regret it. I was so blind. God help us.

I voted for him. I am sorry. Please forgive me. I regret what I have done.

Most of you have posted it right. It is a 'feel good' program that will benefit very few individuals. And its only good till november. How come nothing older than 2001? Is it because I was getting over 18 miles per gallon with my old 1971 Plymouth Road Runner that it doesn't qualify? We need fewer government programs and more goverment restriction.

It would be interesting to see just how many people take advantage of this program. Seems to me most people driving a car that is 8 or more years old are probably doing so because they cannot afford a brand new one or just like what they have. That or they need a vehicle that can pull a large boat or travel trailer and there are not too many 22 mpg vehicles that are going to do that safely. They should at least mandate that the new vehicle purchase be from one of the companies that the taxpayers now have a stake in.

I think that this is great! Even if you can't afford a car like the Cadillac CTS you can take a large chunk of the MSRP for high milage vehicles like the new VW Jetta TDI, Ford Focus, Chevy Cobalt, Toyota Prius, ect. (specifically the cobalt and focus since their MSRP is only around $16,000)

I did not vote for the fool. In an America where we vote in a person who won't even put his hand over his heart during the pledge to our flag, elect al franken to the senate, have mass mourning for monster pedophiles ect. we are all screwed

Regret voting for the fool??? The fools are the one's who voted for the fool and the rest of us suffer the consequences... As far as insurance,..it shouldn't have been a stipulation since you had to have the current registration for a year that should have been enough.

I agree with most of you commenting on the cash for clunkers. Only 67,000 registerd auto's on the road qualify for the 3500 or 4500 voucher. Out of the 67K auto's how many people are actually going to get to buy a new car? If your driving junk it's because you can't afford a new car. Also the combined fuel economy cant be above 18mpg. What about a junked out cavalier, or a geo? Some of these cars should be crushed but they aren't they're traded in and recycled into the community. The cash for clunkers is only going to make people mad when they go to the dealership and are told all of the stipulations. It creates a false sense of excitment. Who ever voted this idiot we call Mr. President is a joke...

we drive an older car because we can't afford a new one and this only good for new cars so it doesn't help us out at all. I think they could come up with something for the used cars too.

The point of having the car insured is so people cannot grab junked cars sitting out in the back forty that they never planned to use again. Also most of the people driving old clunkers are those that cannot afford new vehicles. This will help mostly the middle and upper class who have vehicles that they use only a couple of times a year. This will include the full size conversion vans,V-8 sedans, trucks and also it has to be COMBINED mileage under 18 mpg. This will not be combined with trade in value.

Anyone else regret voting this fool into power yet? My God, when you folks wake up. What will it truly take?
Posted by: chippewa Location: chippewa on Jul 6, 2009 at 10:16 PM

What's the point of having had the car insured in order to trade in? Alot of people drive multiple cars and can't afford to have all of them insured...

So What's the catch, and what so president Obama can put you in more DEBT
