New Year's Eve proved to be a busy night for both the Eau Claire Police Department and State Patrol.

Between 9 last night and 7 this morning.. Eau Claire Police made 19 arrests, including 11 disorderly conduct citations.

Officers also handed out 36 ordinance violations, which the department says were mostly underage drinking violations.

The Eau Claire State Patrol completed 200 traffic stops.. and handed out 7 drunk-driving citations.

"There was an increased effort statewide because of New Year's that we always try to have as many officers as we can out on the roads enforcing the law and being available for the increased traffic volume," said Sgt. Mike Melgaard of the State Patrol.

Patrol officers also responded to a number of minor traffic accidents, due to slippery and icy roads.
