A Winona State University college student who nearly drowned last Wednesday has died.
The Goodview Police Department says 20-year-old Ma Le was swimming at Lake Goodview and went out past a roped-off swimming area.
He was pulled from the water and given CPR, but crews and witnesses say he went without breathing for between three and five minutes.
Winona State University says Ma Le died of injuries he received on Wednesday.
He was surrounded by a cousin from China and members of the W-S-U community.
Le had just arrived in Minnesota a week ago to attend the English language center.
He was also admitted to attend classes in the fall.
