Deputies say a driver backed up and hit a man that had just opened the passenger door of the vehicle he had been in. The Monroe County Sheriff says it happened around 2 a.m. Saturday.
Jeremie Roe, 29, of Sparta was in a vehicle in the parking lot of the Long Branch Bar east of Melrose. The sheriff says 58-year-old James Stafslien opened the passenger side door. He says Roe then backed up and hit Staflslien.
Deputies say Roe hit another vehicle and ran off. Staflslien was taken to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries. Police caught Roe later.
