Two medical facilities in the Chippewa Valley will get a total of 450-thousand dollars in federal funding to make improvements.
U.S. Senator Herb Kohl included the funding in the Labor, Health and Human Services, and Education Appropriations Bill for health care initiatives in Western Wisconsin.
50-thousand dollars will go toward health care improvements at the Chippewa Valley free clinic in Eau Claire.
400-thousand dollars will go to the Chippewa Valley Hospital in Durand.
They both plan to use the money to put in an electronic medical records system.
They hope the investment will enhance efficiency, reduce costs and improve patient safety.
Kohl says these health care projects will continue to train new nurses and improve health it systems in order to better serve patients in our hospitals and clinics.
