Stimulus money could bring new buses to Eau Claire

The city will benefit from stimulus money to the tune of $1.8 million. That’s if the council approves it.

Eau Claire Public Works Director Brian Amundson says stimulus money will pay for five new city buses. Amundson says Eau Claire planned on buying the buses next year and a grant would have covered 80%, but stimulus funds pay for 100% of the cost for buses this year.

Stimulus money will also pay for surveillance equipment on the buses.
