People on the job hunt say the search is tough, but today one business held a job fair to try and fill 40 positions. Dozens of people were at the job fair competing to work for the new area business, Genesis 10.
People on the job hunt for an information technology career right now, say having a company like this move into the area is a bonus.
"The market is pretty thin. Hard economic times seem to be hitting everybody," says Walter Boese.
Walter Boese was looking for a programming job on Wednesday. He says he's been pounding the pavement since he was recently laid off from SGI. However some people we talked to here are just now hitting the job market.
"I am looking for a job, I am a recent graduate and am hoping to start a career in the it industry," says Eliot Skinner.
Eliot Skinner says he's had a tough time finding that start.
"It's not easy right now. It's never easy people are looking for qualified people," says Eliot Skinner.
Vice President of work force solutions for Genesis 10, Mike Hartquist, says Wednesday he was looking for people with different abilities to fill the open software development and project management positions.
"We're opening a service division of our consulting business. Our goal is to staff resources that will be working for a number of our clients around the country," says Mike Hartquist.
Hartquist says Eau Claire is a great choice financially for a company like Genesis 10, and people applying says it's also great for the area.
"It shows the community is growing, we have a good medical area around here, this kind of thing would help augment it quite a bit," says Walter Boese.
Genesis 10 says it wants to have the spots filled in the next two months.
