A local family saved a century old church from destruction.
The Benrud family paid $230,000 to move the Norwegian Evangelical Church of Sparta to it's new home and that was after getting the church for free!
The church was broken into two pieces, loaded on trucks to the Norskadalen Norwegian Heritage Center in Coon Valley.
It will take another 6 weeks to put the church back together completely.
Curt Benrud says the whole project was started as a memorial to Norwegian Benruds.
The Benrud family also gave Norskadalen an $80,000 endowment for the care of the church.
