Volunteers assemble flags in memory of children who lost their lives to child abuse

Volunteers worked to put together about 1,400 flags Friday morning for the upcoming Healing Field.

September 18th-20th about 1,400 flags will be set up to represent the number of children who have lost their lives to child abuse. Lloyd Everhart, Co-Chairperson for Healing Field says the flags come unassembled so about 20 people gathered to get the flags ready for the event.

Everhart says the idea of Healing Fields was started after the September 11th attacks. He says on average, 1,400-1,700 kids die every year from child abuse.

The money raised from the flags will go to the Boys and Girls Club and the Children's Service Society of Wisconsin. The flags are $30 and can be purchased through the Healing Fields website.
