Eau Claire children are donating nickels, dimes, and pennies to improve their library.

Starting Monday, February 5th through March 2nd, the Phillips Memorial
Library is trying to get one million pennies, or ten thousand dollars in their "Big Penny" jars.

The library hopes to use the use the money to expand Youth Services and remodel the 30 year-old library building.
Librarians say the drive is a fun way to allow children to improve their library.

"I think the kids are amazed at how far their pennies, their coins, their nickels, their dimes can really add up to," says Youth Services Manager Shelly Collins-Fuerbinger.

The jars are also being placed in schools, local business, and daycare centers in Eau Claire.

The "Big Penny" campaign is part of the library's Capital Campaign for library improvement.
