EAU CLAIRE, Wis. (WEAU) -- The best amateur bowlers in the region took to the lanes Saturday for the annual Chippewa Valley Match Games.

Bowlers from across the Midwest gathered at Wagner's Lanes in Eau Claire for one of the biggest tournaments in the state.

Qualifying matches took place Saturday with the finals wrapping up on Sunday.

Organizers say more than 100 people signed up this year, making it one of the biggest tournaments in recent history.

Denny Burkart, the tournament organizer says, "this is the 57th year of this tournament and I think one of the best years we've ever had, and I've been doing this for 16 years and this is one of the best events we've ever had."

He says the tournament was $90 to enter, and the winner walks away with a $1,500 top prize.
