Two men are charged after investigators say they faked an armed robbery. 23-year-old Mark Kuberra of Augusta and 19-year-old Cory Schenn are both charged with two counts of theft, among other charges.
A criminal complaint shows Schenn was a clerk at the Osseo BP gas station on August 12th. It says he told police a man came in with a knife and hammer and demanded money. More than $1,000 was missing along with about $200 worth of cigarettes.
The complaint says on August 24th, police interviewed Schenn again. That's when he admitted he and Kuberra made up the story to steal money. He also told police the two damaged the store to make it look like a robbery.
Both men pleaded not guilty. They're scheduled to be back in court next month.
