2 people are homeless after a fire in the town of Sterling

Two people are homeless after a fire in Vernon County. The Vernon county sheriff says the fire occurred after 1 o-clock this morning in the town of sterling, west of Viroqua. The home was owned by Carol and Gary Teadt. The sheriff says they were asleep when the fire broke out, but they were awakened by their dog and were able to escape. Deputies say the house and garage are a total loss. The cause of the fire is under investigation
