5th graders get a taste of college life

EAU CLAIRE, Wis. (WEAU)--5th graders throughout the Chippewa Valley got a taste of college life on the UW-Eau Claire campus Thursday.

About 1,700 kids took part in a day long interactive tour, with small groups paired up with college mentors.

The students were encouraged to ask questions about college, discuss future academic plans and explore what areas on campus they find interesting.

The kids came from several schools including Alma Center-Humbird-Merrilan, Arcadia and Bloomer, just to name a few.

The Blugold Beginnings Tour Day continues Friday with a group of 5th graders from Eau Claire and Altoona.
