A first time bear hunter is waiting for confirmation to find out if he set a state record.
Mark Listle of Tripoli shot a 727 lb. bear on Friday night on a farm northeast of Rib Lake. A weighing station in Prentice certified the bear's live weight.
A wildlife artist says the hide measures 80 inches in length. She says Listle had to move the bear with a bobcat and that it covered a 4 by 8 sheet of plywood.
Listle has hunted deer since he was 12-years-old. The Safari Room in Medford says it will take close to a year to mount the bear.
